Carly van Winkel

In her series I don’t squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom of the tube New Zealand photographer Carly van Winkel uses a camera as her tool to create a self-portrait that questions traditional notions of family and intimacy.

In many of the images a home is examined with a relentless eye and the result is a series of images which convey a palpable tension. Nothing seems exactly out of place, yet the photographs - devoid of human subjects, dwell on the untold stories of a house.
